|
What is sandstone? |
Sandstone refers to a sedimentary rock with
particles between 1/16 millimeter and 2 mm in size, so it doesn't
signify any particular mineral mixture. But in practice, sandstone is
usually almost all quartz. No other mineral at the Earth's surface can
stand up to the forces of chemical weathering and physical
transportation well enough to accumulate into rocks with grains of this
size. Many sandstones, however, have small amounts of clay minerals,
hematite, ilmenite, feldspar, and mica that add color and character to
the quartz matrix. The grains of quartz in sandstone are cemented
together by a groundmass of silica (chemically the same as quartz), or
calcium carbonate or iron oxide. |
|
What are those black mark in my stone? |
It's called dendrite. A general term to denote a
mineral, e.g. surface deposits of an oxide of manganese, iron, or an
inclusion that has crystallized in a branching or spotty pattern in or
on rocks or
minerals. |

Does IronCraft sell directly to the public? |
The crux of our business is the wholesale market.
We cater to the retail store owner and/or buyer from the small, through
the midsize, to the large retail operation. Our established
customer base consists of retail stores and interior designers
throughout the United States as well as several online stores.
However, we can and do sell to retail customers under certain
conditions. Interested retail buyers should first contact us by
phone, fax or email. Once we receive a query, we will search our
wholesale client database for your area and refer you to them to make
your purchase. If the stores to which we refer you do not carry
the item you are interested in purchasing, they can order it from us, so
that you may obtain it. In the event there isn't retail store
doing business with us in your area, we will gladly fill your order.
Please understand that we do this to protect our many loyal business
partnerships we have formed over the years. |
